An online database is a collection of magazines, newspapers, documents, images, media, and other reference materials on a variety of topics that can be accessed from your home or school computer.

RESEARCH TIP: Use CTRL + F to search within an article!

Come to the library during extra help or recess (sign up for recess during homeroom) for more help!

An amazing collection of 25,000 encyclopedia articles appropriate for grades 4-12, atlases, dictionaries, maps, country information, sound clips, magazine articles, "This Day in History", teacher resources, and much more. Includes World Book Kids, World Book Student, and Spanish edition.

An educational program that provides curriculum-based content spanning seven subjects including Science, Math, English, Social Studies, Health, Arts & Music, and Technology. BrainPOP features more than 600 animated movies. Each movie is supported by activities such as a quiz, comic strip, experiment and other printable worksheets, all of which speak to kids in a language and voice that they can understand. Includes BrainPOP Jr. and BrainPOP ESL.

Great databases including Issues Researcher with background and current analysis necessary for research and understanding of 360+ current and pervasive Leading Issues. Analysis and opinions cover the pros, cons, and everything in between on the most researched and debated social issues; Discoverer includes magazine articles, the World Almanac for Kids, an encyclopedia, country facts, biography information, current events, and much more! Decades features more than 5,000 hand-selected primary and secondary source articles highlighting key events, movements, people, and places in 20th-century America. Coverage includes documents, letters and memos, editorial cartoons, streaming video, websites, photographs, maps, advertisements, and published articles.

This is a great tool to assist in the research process, specifically with bibliographies. It helps record, organize and synthesize information using online notecards and provides an online bibliography creator!

5) Scholastic ScienceFlix  https://scienceflix.scholastic.com

Kids Discover provides non-fictions articles in user-friendly format, with accompanying graphics and video. It packs science, social studies, and ELA into one easy-to-use, online reading platform for grades 3-8! Kids Discover Online provides a cross-curricular experience for the modern classroom.

7) Consumer Reports Great for the 7th grade Science Fair, provides access to consumer product testing and information.

9) Overdrive/Sora www.soraapp.com and log in with your school login information, or go to Classlink and open Sora in the Library Resources folder.

Sora is the WMS Library’s ebook collection. You can check out 1 eBook at a time, they stay on your account for 2 weeks, and you can renew as needed online.

10) Proquest Teacher’s Professional Education Collection http://explore.proquest.com

13) NOVEL NY Databases NOVELNY is a free online library of hundreds of magazines, newspapers, maps, charts, research and reference books. Go to the link below, then choose a specific database that meets your needs, some of which are listed below. No password needed.

Britannica Escolar: Age-appropriate content in Spanish for native Spanish speakers, bilingual students and students learning Spanish.  Available at two levels—primary and secondary.
Britannica School:  A source for all grades (Pre-K-12) and all reading abilities.  Available at three levels--elementary, middle, and high.

Kids InfoBits

Contains over 550 age-appropriate magazines for grades K-5. Also includes Merriam-Webster's Elementary Dictionary, maps, flags, seals, charts and graphs.

Gale In Context: Opposing Viewpoints

Contains a range of perspectives on many important issues, with over 21,000 pro/con viewpoints. Includes a variety of resource types: reference, news, primary sources, multimedia and more.

Gale In Context: Middle School

Contains magazines, newspapers, primary sources and videos for students in grades 6 to 8.

Gale General OneFile with Subject Collections

News and periodical articles on a wide range of topics.

Gale OneFile: Informe Académico

Spanish interface provides access to Spanish- and Portuguese-language scholarly journals both from and about Latin America.
